Something is so strange about the MBC America - Hawaii thing. I saw the MBC dvd commercial too. I'm sure a lot of local people are going to be buying this boxed set because they were left hanging in the middle of the drama and don't know about the crappy ending. But then if a whole lot of MBC boxed sets sell, MBC may think they don't need to broadcast here because they can make money anyway without making waves.
You-know-who probably gave MBC free ad time because they are nice like that

I never watch KBFD anymore. So is KBFD now selling the MBC box sets or only certain ones....like what was never finished being broadcast here in HI? I think MBC forgot all about this market.....if I can find the email with all the addresses on it, I will email them...AGAIN!
Emailed all of the MBC America people yesterday and so far NADA/No REPLIES!!!

Even CH. 79 has been wiped out from the Oceanic Tv-Guide. MBC America can show all the dvd box setcommercials they want. I will never buy another one from them. I will just continue to d/l the episodes of the internet for free with fansubs.

But, but, but...what if they were strong armed out? It just doesn't make sense that they would not try to re-enter the Hawaii market with such a large Asian population and a sizeable fan base. There's got to be more to the story. Or it could be advertisers couldn't support two similar stations with ad space and you know who has strong ties with our local Korean community.

Hmmmmmm, strange thought but WHAT IF?? I do think that advertisers were not able to support actually three K-stations. And if you notice, KBS has a large number of Hawaii advertisements now. In fact it is so bad that we rarely even see a Music Bank segment anymore - just more and more commercials.....
And as of now, no one from MBC America has replied to my email from yesterday! guess we do give up.....

Something curious has showed up over the Oahu digital airwaves recently...yesterday I was flipping through the stations on a DTV converter box I was testing out when I noticed that KBFD now has a subchannel, 32-2. Right now nothing but a black screen is being broadcast on it.
I wouldn't think that someone accidentally flipped a switch and turned on a subchannel by mistake, so...could this mean that another Korean station is on the horizon? MBC-D perhaps? Stay tuned...I guess if MBC-D is gonna end up being carried on KBFD then that could pave the way for it's return to Oceanic Cable. Or maybe someone at KBFD did flip the switch by mistake and it's nothing. Gotta think positive right?

I did email all the MBC people a few weeks ago asking about their status in Hawaii and I got ZERO/NADA replies. Strange that no one even tried to bluff their way out of this! i called KBFD and asked them if they plan to show MBC dramas or carry their broadcasts. Of course the answer was "We have no plans for that."
Keep us posted as you might know before KBFD does!

Hmm.....I heard that KBFD is primarily an SBS supporter and they weren't too thrilled when KBS America and MBC America came on line a few years back. I'm sure they are very happy that MBC is out of the Hawaii market.....for now.

Ciao,
Back home after 16 days away and not one K-Drama watched during that time! Actually was a nice rest. This is the email reply I received while I was away:
From: contact@mbc24tv.com Subject: Re: MBC Broadcast in Hawaii Date: July 17, 2009 8:56:49 AM HST
Hello,
As of now, unfortunately we do not have any definite plans to continue broadcasting in Hawaii. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
